ABOUT THE ARTISTNaj-Janice Frierson,
Naj Janice Frierson-Edwards is a Visual artist from Cincinnati, Ohio, known for her vibrant acrylic, pastel, and mixed media works. Her artistic journey began in childhood, inspired by frequent excursions to performances by African drummers and dancers, as well as the rich cultural events in her hometown. Growing up surrounded by a vast natural environment and a large family of artists—spanning visual arts, music, acting, and other creative fields—nurtured her creative imagination and artistic skills. Janice's primary sources of inspiration for her richly diverse subject matter come from tuning into her spirit, ancestral energies, meditation, and the many elements of nature. Her "Afrohemian Style" is characterized by vibrant colors and bold metaphysical and African compositions, often featuring women. Exhibiting her artwork since the age of 16, Janice's pieces have been showcased in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Her work is featured in private residences across the U.S. and in public collections. A self-taught artist, Janice's intention is to create a beautiful world and help others connect with their divine selves through her art. |
